I know it’s burning up outside, and with the rise in gas and electric prices, who wants to run the AC all the time? Did you know that running your AC non-stop is hazardous to the environment and it’s bad for your AC? You could clog the coils used to push out the dust, or maybe even over heat your system.
Fenland Field has taken some time to help you figure out how to save money and save you AC:
- Instead of turning your AC off when you’re not using it, turn the temperature up. This will allow your system to idle instead of using unnecessary energy to re-start the system when you’re ready to use it again and dont worry the heat will not switch on unless you switch it to the heat settings, which you dont want to do..
- Keep your AC set to about 73 – 75 degrees. This will allow your unit to maintain a stable temperature and keep it there on its own, which will once again help save energy.
- Use Cold Water! The obvious approach is to drink it. Drinking water not only hydrates you but it keeps you cool for about an hour.
- Instead of taking warm showers, add some more cold water to your shower and this will cool you down and keep your body cool for a few hours.
- Sit in a tub of cool water or soak your feet in cool water. Another trick to instantly bring your body temperature down. And once the water starts to get warm just let out some of the water and add more cold.
- Wet a t-shirt with cool water, not to cold because you could end up freezing. Then sit in front of a fan or out on your balcony.
- Purchase a fan with misting capabilities. When water hits your skin it will evaporate and create a cooling sensation.
- Wear less clothing. Sounds a little risqué, but if your in the house and don’t need to wear a lot of layers opt for a bathing suit or anything of your choice. The more you wear the hotter you’ll be.
- Turn on a fan in the evening, moving air is cooler than sitting air. It also creates the impression that you have a breeze in your apartment home.
- Close your blinds. As much as we love the sun and its free light, it acts as a personal heating source. So the more you let in, the hotter your apartment home will be.
- I know we can all be very busy but the less you move around and stress out in the summer, the cooler you will be. As well as running in and out of your front/patio doors. Obviously this will let in burst of heat which will work against your AC.
